It is a retrolliuminato LED LCD TV 50 "with the now standard (for this measurement) FULL HD resolution (1920x1080p), 3D (active) with an unusual new panel called" Frame Dimming ".
In addition to the digital decoder DVB-T / T2 (standard on all Sony TV since last year) has deoder digital satellite DVB-S / S2 and CAM slot (CI +) Premium or Sat.
The video processor is the known X-Reality Pro 600 HZ XR that in spite of the high refresh rate declared (600Hz) behaves like an old 1000Hz oxy in a not particularly fluid.
Good sound quality, thanks to the integrated S-Master digital amplifier 10W per channel.
The TV is designed for browsing the Internet, being able to connect to a modem router with a network cable is both Wi-Fi.
4 HDMI inputs (one of which is compatible MHL and an ARC), 1 SCART traditional RCA inputs and headphone output with dedicated sound card (ie with independent audio control);
2 USB ports can play photos, music and video (including MKV) with recording function portable drive.
So far nothing new compared to its predecessor 50W685 (do not understand why it has been elevated to 6 series 8 series while remaining in the same price range and product price).
Aesthetically very similar, has a frame less angular, but has been depleted in the material of the side frame, the first aluminum now plastic.

The only advantage that we have seen is like getting the quality of the new panel, as improved color saturation, the viewing angle, the contarsto and above the already good, black levels, even in the low light.
Very low, like its predecessor, fuel consumption (it is a class A ++).
The remote control is the classic Sony.
Good overall value for money, although it is at this price (from 899 to € 999), we find the same characteristics of the TV, even with the 3D processors with more and far more performance with 200 or more HZ true! (For example, LG 50 series 6 or Sharp series 6).
